A sudden case of suicide of a renowned cinema artist Late Mr. Sushant Singh Rajput, caught the attention of people once again on a major overlooked and ignored topic “DEPRESSION”. Let’s first understand what depression is. It’s a mental health disorder which is grouped in mood disorders, characterised by persistently depressed mood or sadness or loss of interest in daily life, causing severe impairment in daily life. The wide variety of symptoms include, lack in sleep, low appetite, low energy level, morning blues or sadness, and sometimes suicidal ideations. A wide group of other definition is also available but it all indicates to same as mentioned above. Now let’s understand "Who gets depressed?". Answer is very simple; anyone can get depressed anytime, regardless to caste, creed, gender and age range.
Now "Why people get depressed?". They can get depressed over any reason or what they consider as problem and specially those who have gone through adverse life events such as, being away from family, broken marriage or family, unsuccessfulness in life, carrier, no goal achievement, unemployment, death of loved ones, or cardiovascular disorders etc. In other words, depression results from a complex interaction of social, psychological and biological factors.
Now "Why people commit suicide?". Is it too much easy to take life? No, its not. Then why people take such harsh and heart-breaking steps. Because either they don’t talk about what’s eating them from inside or they just ignore it. Generally, people don’t talk about depression because they feel that if they will tell others, they will get judged and they will be embarrassed and people will make mockery out of it. And to some extent its true also. So, one needs to stop judging people and try to listen to them carefully. There is no harm in listening to anyone and comforting them and actually the symptoms of depression is so overt that it can be observed easily. For instance, a talkative person suddenly stops talking, a person keen of painting stops it all at one etc. we just need to observe our near & dear ones and try to talk them out about it without judging them so that they don’t take this harsh step of suicide. No amount of money, property or wealth or fame can decide whether a person is suffering from depression or not. Once another film star talked about depression and how she went through such hard time and her one friend helped her to come out of it by just being there for her and just talking. That superstar was Deepika Padukone. And she confessed about her depression Infront of the whole world. All it requires is to take a step and talk about it and not to just keep it inside of you to kill your will power slowly and forces you to take any harsh step.
Please be aware of it. Life is too beautiful and precious. Live life to its fullest. No amount of wealth can give life back once it is taken. It just creates the void in the life of our loved ones. Committing suicide is not the solution of any problem. It’s the most coward step to take. Be brave and talk about it all.
