What does happiness mean and how do you know if you are happy?

Happiness is an emotional state characterized by feelings of joy, satisfaction, contentment, and fulfillment. While happiness has many different definitions, it is often described as involving positive emotions and life satisfaction.

We consider that we are happy when things go according to our plan or the way we thought it would go.

There are different ways and means through which one can be happier on a day to day basis.

Increasing Happiness step by step:

  1. Be Grateful for the small things in life.

This works wonders when done on a daily basis. Being grateful for the smaller things in life is very important. Start being grateful for the meal you have, for the person in your life, for having one more day to live etc.

  1. Meditate for 5 minutes everyday.

Meditation calms your mind and helps you focus on the present. It helps in relieving stress and can increase your happiness.

  1. Write a letter to yourself.

A letter to your own self means self-love and self appreciation. Maybe that is what you need more rather than appreciation from someone else.

  1. Go out for a walk alone or with a friend.

This helps in relieving stress to a great extent. Reports suggest that walking or doing mild exercises can improve your mood as well as it is good for your health.

  1. Do something you Love.

Whether you love to dance, sing, paint or whatever it is. Just do it. If something makes you happy, do it.

  1. Aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy can help relax mind and body. Light your favourite scented Candle and enjoy your favourite drink or food or music.

  1. Help someone in need.

Help someone by giving them a meal or a blanket. Helping out someone through any means will make you happier and satisfied.
